The story is set in the middle of ancient China’s Ming Dynasty: Four martial art experts, led by emperor’s uncle, formed an imperial secret service, called them self “The Dragon’s Protectors.”
Immediately after they have foiled the assasination attempt of the emperor, a complex and devious conspiracy of treason, which involved a Japanese Samurai gang, was also unveiled. Just as the team head into the clues and investigate deeper into the web, they soon discover a small connection linking them back to their own organization. As in result, each prominent member of the Protectors team must to use their skill, wisdom and expertise, to solve the mystery that threatens the very existence of the “Dragon’s Protectors.”

Following his late teacher’s passing, Jin Shiyi (Raymond Lam) leaves Snake Island for the Central Plains in search of Mang Shan Sect’s Lü Si Niang (Bai Yin) to pass her a letter and to request her help in purging the poison in his body.
Upon his arrival in the Central Plains, the innocent Shiyi becomes an unwilling participant in the tumultuous world of martial arts and battles. Because of the ragged clothes he is wearing, Shiyi is mistaken for a member of the Beggar’s Sect and is dragged into their battles with the Shaolin Monks.
There, he meets Li Shengnan (Michelle Ye), an assassin sent by the Emperor’s lackey Simen Muyi to break up the unity between the sects, and Gu Zhihua (Rain Li), Lü Si Niang’s disciple.
Lü Si Niang dies in her attempt to save Shiyi, leaving Mang Shan Sect to believe Shiyi is the murderer. Disillusioned by the turn of events, Zhihua joins Shiyi in his wanders. Shengnan, dedicated to seek revenge against Shiyi, joins them but unwittingly falls in love with Shiyi. Sensing the attraction between Zhihua and Shiyi, Shengnan continually harasses and creates problems for Zhihua.
They arrive at Volcano Island to obtain a precious martial arts manual but Zhihua is captured by the highly-skilled Meng Shen Tong, who manages to grab half of the manual and master the demonic gongfu.
Shiyi and Shengnan pursue them back to the Central Plains, only to find the martial arts world in chaos. They wait for their chance to save the sect leaders and rid the world of Meng Shen Tong and Simen Muyi…

The much awaited TVB production, Gods of Honour, receives a very high viewership rate when it was shown in 2001. This 40-episode drama is an adaptation of the classic novel Gods of Honour. Benny Chan leads the cast and delivers his splendid performance as the legendary figure Na-zha. Miss Chinese International Winner Michelle Yip makes her first appearance in a costume drama and pairs up with Benny Chan. Cast also features the funny Chin Ka Lok, the sexy Irene Wan, and the experienced Yuen Wah. Yuen King Dan makes a breakthrough by taking up the role of Na-zha’s mother, very much different from other comedian roles she used to play. She successfully touches the hearts of many and is crowned one of “My Favorite TV Character” of 2001. The story is set in the ancient Shang Dynasty. As revenge to the emperor’s insult, a powerful goddess sends fox spirit Tan Ji (Irene Wan) to enchant this emperor, so as to ruin his kingdom. Na-zha (Benny Chan), one of the heavenly gods, gets killed by the famous warrior Li Jing (Yuen Wah) but ironically reincarnates as Li Jing’s third son. Li Jing is never in good terms with this son of his and even sends Na-zha away. Na-zha befriends the three-eyed Yang Jian (Chin Ka Lok) and they joined forces to overthrow the corrupt Shang Dynasty. On the battlefield Na-zha meets his father Li Jing, a general of the Shang Dynasty, and is compelled to make a difficult choice between justice and filial piety…
