Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart: Ryeo
This drama is based on Chinese novel “Bu Bu Jing Xin” by Tong Hua which was originally published online in 2005 on Jinjiang Original Network. The novel also adapted into the chinese television series “Scarlet Heart” which was aired in Hunan Broadcasting System (HBS) from 2011-Sep-10 to 2011-Sep-29 and also “Scarlet Heart 2” which was aired in Zhejiang STV (ZJTV) from 2014-Apr-22 to 2014-May-07.
This drama was fully pre-produced before airing which is a departure from the live-shoot production format that characterizes most Korean dramas. The Filming Began on 2016-Jan and Completed on 2016-June-30. The series will be simulcast in China.

In the time of enlightenment, a battle between a sword and a gun has started.Based in the time of enlightenment of 17th-century Joseon, This drama tells the story of Joseon’s last swordsman named Park Yoon Kang who grabs a gun ditching his sword and grows to become the era’s hero. Park Yoon Kang is the illegitimate son of the best swordsman in Joseon. After his father and sister get killed, he trades sword for gun as he embarks on his revenge mission.
Set during the Joseon Dynasty, Yong acted as a hooligan in the marketplace by day but at night he was a thief who robbed corrupted government officials to give to the poor. After each robbery he left behind a painting depicting a plum tree branch to make his mark and was thus named Iljimae. His main purpose was not so much to rob but to search for the owner of a specially designed sword which he saw as a child was used to kill his father, a loyal subject of the emperor. Eun Chae is a government official’s daughter who despite her upbringing has a lot of empathy towards the poor. She met Iljimae by chance and couldn’t help admiring him for what he stood for even though she had never seen his face.
